Mustard arched lift-lid hall bench

A hall bench for an entry with no room for a cupboard, only 360mm deep: its oiled oak seat lifts on soft-close stays to a box for hats, gloves and the dog lead, and an arched mustard backboard rises behind it with four brass hooks on an oak rail. Seat, storage and coat rack in 900mm of wall, fixed at the top so it never tips.

• Slate reeded hall wainscot with radiator cover A hall radiator that disappears into the panelling: slate-green reeded wainscot to 1m either side, and between them a cover with a grille of rounded slats that lets the heat out, under a deep oiled oak shelf that stops short of the wall so warm air rises up the slot behind it. The shelf becomes the hall's landing spot for keys, post and a lamp, and the cover lifts off in one piece to bleed the radiator.
