How Crava works

Describe something to build - starting with wood - and get a design that is checked before you cut: the 3D model, shop drawings and cut list.

1. Describe it, or show a photo

   Say what you want in your own words - sizes, wood, where it goes. Or show your room, or a piece you love: Crava reads the space and the style, and you pick what to have designed.

2. Crava designs it, and checks it

   Crava's designer proposes a design. Every proposal is then checked by Crava's checker - calculations, not AI - and anything that fails goes back to be fixed against what the checks found. A design that still fails is shown failing, with the reason. What is checked:

   • Every part is attached to the rest of the piece, and joined parts actually meet
   • Parts that are not joined do not occupy the same space
   • Every blank can be cut from stock you can buy
   • Shelves, rails and parts that carry a load do not sag under it
   • The space between shelves is big enough to use
   • Glued joints do not fight seasonal wood movement
   • The piece stands steadily on the floor
   • It fits the wall it is built against, at the size it promises
   • The finish suits the material, and lights have power

3. Make it yours

   Change the paint or finish, the wood and the handles; fit out doors, handles, lights or hooks; choose a different joint - each alternative is checked against the whole design before you pick it. Or ask for a change in words: "make it 10cm lower". The checks, the cut list and the build steps follow every change.

4. See it for real

   See the design as a photograph, or set into a photo of your own room. The picture is a visualisation, and says so; the plans are what is exact.

5. Take the plans

   One document to read top to bottom, or print: what to know before you build, drawings with lettered parts and every size, what to buy - with links to stores - the cut list, cutting diagrams showing where each piece comes from on its board or sheet, a drawing of each part, and the build as a checklist of steps, with the 3D model showing each one. In millimetres or inches, shown the way a tape measure reads.

   Every number comes from the same model as the 3D view and the checks, so the drawings, the cut list and the diagrams cannot disagree.
