Fold-down garage workbench

For a one-car garage: a 1.5m oak-edged worktop hinged to a ledger on two wall standards, standing on a fold-down leg frame when you need it and swinging up flat against the shallow pegboard cabinet above when the car comes home, so the whole workshop closes to 260mm off the wall. The pale sky-blue underside becomes the cabinet front.

• Rolling lumber and offcut cart All the timber in a small shop on one 1.5 x 0.76m footprint: full sheets stand on their long edge in two slots behind the spine, long boards rest on twelve steel-cored maple arms in front, and the offcuts that usually pile up in corners drop into four bins below. It rolls out of the way when the car needs the space.
• Rolling clamp rack Forty clamps on 0.4m² of floor, rolled to wherever the glue-up is: parallel clamps hang through a slotted maple rail, F-clamps from a lower one, pipe clamps stand in a trough at the back and spring clamps ride on pegs at the ends, with a glue tray along the top. Birch ply and oiled maple, nothing to paint.
• Cherry sharpening station Everything for sharp tools in a 900mm cherry cabinet: a lift-out stone pond sunk in the top with a maple bridge for three waterstones, and a slow-speed grinder that lives in a slot under the top and runs out on full-extension slides when it is needed, then disappears so the mess stays in one place.
